Greetings from Oy. What Does it Mean to Connect?
Greetings Earth's Green Guardians,
I'm thrilled to be able to share some ways that you can live lightly on our beautiful Planet Earth, shared by all living things. We all know the Earth is in big trouble and human behaviour has a lot to do with it. I am not hear to blame, shame or frighten. I'm here to unite to make a difference while we still have time. We can do this if we learn to Connect Mindfully with nature, Restore habitat, Prepare for Green Jobs and Protect the planet everyday by the way we live and the choices we make.
My fellow Piskies of Bluebell Dell have been walking in balance on the Earth for thousands of years. We have noticed our habitat has been shrinking steadly and feel now is the time to speak up. We also know that nature can teach us so much if we listen. In fact, we've learned that we are all part of nature, not seperate or superior. We also know technology can help us communicate so we can reach as wide an audience as possible. My fellow Piskies have chosen me, Oy, to speak for them and the Earth. That's why we're thrilled that Earth's Green Guardians (EGG) has given us this platform to share our feelings. We're here to help.
There is so much we CAN do. One important thing that will help us all is Connecting. What do we mean by Connect Mindfully to nature? We Piskies spend our lives in nature, not just for our food, clothing, shelter and water but also for our emotional well-being. We can sit or stroll quietly under the trees or by streams for hours, using our senses to bath ourselves in beauty. We see, taste, hear, touch and smell the symphony of life around us. This makes us feel happy. Nature has a way of teaching and healing us. It can do the same for you.
It involves taking time to put your devices away, slowdown and giving yourself a chance to breathe. The Earth is waiting for your attention. If you have a park or woods nearby, go spend sometime in there. Bring your family or friends. Give each other space to immerse yourself in nature. We have found that even listening to the sounds of nature can be helpful. Find creative ways to spend more time in nature and leave it as you found it, that is of course unless you find some litter. Carefully pick the litter up and dispose of it properly. Piskies are always picking up litter. You can be a Pisky Picker Upper too. The Earth really does appreciate it.
You can find all kinds of resources on the EGG website to explore earthgg.org.uk or on Facebook @EGGAction
I look
forward to you sharing ways that you connect with nature.
Remember, You are Nature too!
LovEarth,
Oy
